Kindergarten Gingerbread Fun
The last child. Enough said right? If you have more than one or two children you will totally get me here. Do you recall with your first kid, how excited and anxious you were to get started with school? You were reading them books in the womb, playing classical music during nap time, taking them to story time and dragging them to every free educational event offered.
And then your last baby came along and well… you are sure she is learning by osmosis… right? I have chosen to believe that I have just gained some perspective, instead of having deprived her of all those “once imperative” activities.
Sometimes that dear youngest child just needs some one on one mommy time, and to know that they matter too. A little cookie making and fun was just what the heart ordered. And since tis the season, Gingerbread men were the perfect fit.
Surprise her by waking her up and telling her that today is Gingerbread cookie making day! No need to get dressed or brush your hair (because honestly you weren’t going to do it anyway and that’s just one less battle to fight)
Sure! You can measure and pour to your hearts content. Yes! We will call this school today. (There are numbers on that measuring cup right?)
While those are baking let’s read a story about a naughty gingerbread boy.
“Maddie, if you were the gingerbread boy where would you hide?” “Do you want to play a hide and seek Gingerbread game?”
“I have hidden 6 gingerbread men around the house, can you find them?”
She was so excited for the exclusive mommy and daughter time. It was a great morning and she loved having an Gactivity that was just for us. I realized that we need more of these kind of days.
