What Do I Need To Do To Prep For This Activity?
- Download and print the free printable game sheets (link at the end of this post).
- Print the dinosaur mats on white cardstock and the letter circles on a different color of cardstock to make the letters stand out.
- Cut out the lowercase letter circles. If you are having your preschooler do the cutting, this is a great way to work on fine motor skills!
- Laminate the mats and letter circles for durability if desired. This will allow you to use them again and again.
How Do I Use This Activity?
- Lay out the dinosaur mats.
- Spread out the lowercase letter circles.
- Have your child match each lowercase letter circle to the corresponding uppercase letter on the dinosaur mat.
Make this activity more fun!
Add some sensory play: Hide the lowercase letter circles in a bin of sand, rice, or beans for an extra sensory experience.
Make it a scavenger hunt: Hide the letter circles around the room and have your child find them and match them to the mats.
Use playdough: Have kids create the lowercase letters out of playdough to match the uppercase letters.
Say the sounds: As your child matches the letters, encourage them to say the sound that each letter makes.
