Homeschool Co-op Job Descriptions
If you are new to setting up a homeschool co-op or maybe you just are looking to help it run more efficiently then having job descriptions for those that are part of your co-op will play an important role in making sure that your days run smoothly, and everyone understands their part. Not every co-op will need all of these job roles to be filled, but if you find yourself feeling overwhelmed with your tasks that is a good sign you probably need to add on to your team. Read through the Homeschool Co-op Job Descriptions below and see if there is anything you could add to your group.
Co-op Leadership Positions
A strong co-op will have a leader that knows that they can’t do it all alone. Find people in your group that have skills and a passion for the areas that you are weak in and teach them what you need from them and then let them run with it. Not every group needs all of these positions to run effectively.
Director or President- The person ultimately in charge of the day to day running of the group.
Assistant Director-Partners with the director in decision making and fills in when the director is not available.
Treasurer– Keeps track of all the money associated with the co-op.
Registration Coordinator– Is in charge of getting students registered for classes and communicating with parents about classes.
Facilities Coordinator– Works with teachers and the facility to make sure everyone has what is needed and everything goes back in place at the end of the day. This person keeps up with the supplies needed for the classrooms such as whiteboards and AV equipment as well as cleaning supplies.
Early Childhood Coordinator- This person is in charge of the little people in the group. They are the liaison between parents and administration.
Administrative Coordinator– This person handles all the paperwork, printing, and ordering of office supplies and keeps up with student attendance.
Substitute Coordinator– This person is responsible for the smooth functioning of the co-op by ensuring that all parent assignments are covered when members are absent.
Academic Coordinator- This person will work with the director in setting up classes each semester, they will keep track of curriculum purchased for the group, and work with teachers for planning and supplies. They might also be in charge of setting up a system to keep track of grades for older students to use on their transcript.
Non- Leadership Job Descriptions for a Homeschool Co-op
Not every job description needs to come with a leadership title, but every role should report to someone in leadership for accountability and support. Here are some jobs that you might find helpful to have in your co-op.
Hospitality– This person would be there to greet everyone at the door in the morning and possibly throughout the day. They would make sure guests are signed in and have the proper identification.
Care Team– This is either a person or a team of people that would follow up with members that are out sick, send a card when situations like deaths in family and births of babies happen and coordinate meal trains for members when needed.
Security Team– This team is responsible for making a plan for the safety of the families that attend and making sure that all members know the plan for when different situations may arise. They roam hallways, guard doors, and keep track of who is coming in and out of the building.
Playground monitors– These people monitor students when they are outside.
Set up and Clean-up Crew- These people are responsible for making sure the facility is set up for the day and cleaned up and put back at the end of the day.
Special Events Team– This crew plans the parties and the fun events that happen at co-op.
Food Coordinator– Maybe your group has days where you order in lunch. This group would be in charge of seeing that through. They would take orders and coordinate a way to deliver the food to families.
