ABC Letter Hunt Game
One of the first songs that most children learn are the ABC’s. If you have a preschooler or teach in a preschool setting, then you have probably sung the ABC song hundreds of times. It’s not enough just to know what the letters of the English Alphabet are, but being able to identify them is a crucial step to developing literacy skills. Studies show that children who are exposed to letters early on are more likely to excel in reading and writing later in life. This ABC Letter Hunt Game is just one way to make learning more interactive and fun.

Why teach letters in ABC order?
I get asked this question often because as far as understanding and learning letter sounds, the order in which they are learned doesn’t really matter. However, understanding the order of letters according to the English alphabet helps with memorization which in turn helps with recognition. As children get older, they will also find that many things are organized in ABC order, for example: fiction books are organized alphabetically by the author’s last name.
Alphabet Letter Matching
The goal of alphabet matching is to enhance letter recognition skills. In this ABC Letter Hunt Game students are focusing on matching upper-case letters. The activity involves using magnetic letters or something of the kind, to match them with the corresponding letters on the worksheet. This hands-on approach not only reinforces letter recognition but also enhances fine motor skills as children manipulate the magnetic letters.
Teaching the Alphabet Resources
There are so many fun things that can be done to teach the ABC’s. One of the easiest and cheapest games we played was ABC go fish. Before I created my own game, we used notecards and I wrote two sets of ABC’s on them. This helped with recognizing the letters by both hearing seei,ng and manipulating them.
