St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than with a fun, festive St. Patrick’s Day math game? This “Lucky Leprechaun” Multiplication Bingo game is the perfect way to get your students excited about practicing their multiplication facts.

Why Use games in your Math Lessons?
We all know how important those math facts are, but drilling flashcards can get a bit tedious. That’s where games come in! Games provide a fun and engaging way to practice those essential skills without the monotony of traditional worksheets. When kids are having fun, they’re more likely to stay focused and retain information. Plus, games often involve an element of friendly competition, which can motivate students to push themselves and improve.
Supplies Needed for the Math Fact Game:
- Printed Bingo Boards: One for each student. Bingo cards are printed on 8″x11″ so two to a page.
- Printed Fact Cards: Cut these out and keep them in a container for easy drawing. (Also provided through your free printable!)
- Counters: Something for students to cover their Bingo squares. Think beans, pennies, mini erasers, Lucky Charms marshmallows (for a festive touch!), or even just squares of paper.
What They Need to do to Prep for the Game:
- Print and cut out the materials. That’s it! Told you this was easy.
- Optional: If you’re feeling fancy, you could laminate the Bingo boards for durability and reuse.
How to Play this fun St. Patrick’s Day Math Game:
- Hand out a Bingo board to each student.
- Explain the rules: When you call out a multiplication fact (“What is 6 x 7?”), students find the answer on their board and cover it with a counter.
- Call out the facts! Draw a fact card from your container and read it aloud.
- Bingo! The first student to get five in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) shouts “Bingo!” and wins. Don’t forget to check their answers!
Bonus Ideas to Make Lucky Leprechaun More Fun:
- Use fun counters: As mentioned earlier, Lucky Charms marshmallows would be a festive option!
- Play different ways: Instead of traditional Bingo, have students try to cover the entire board (Blackout!), or make a specific shape like an “X” or a square.
- Turn it into a review: After a student wins, have them read off the multiplication facts that helped them win.
- Add a little luck o’ the Irish: Hide a few “leprechaun coins” (chocolate gold coins) under a few random Bingo cards before the game. Students who get Bingo on those cards get a sweet treat!

- Beginner: Use fact cards with smaller numbers (focus on 2s, 5s, and 10s).
