10 Days of Fun Language Arts Activities

Sharing is caring!

When most people hear Language Arts, they think grammar drills, spelling tests, and maybe a little weeping at the kitchen table (from the kids and the parents). But it doesn’t have to be that way! In this 10-days of Fun Language Arts Activities, I’m bringing the fun back to reading, writing, and all things wordy.

These activities are hands-on, low-prep, and high-engagement—perfect for homeschool moms who want to make learning stick without losing their sanity. Whether you’re teaching reluctant readers, future authors, or kids who’d rather be playing outside, there’s something here for everyone.

Get ready to ditch the worksheets (well…most of them), grab some markers, and have some fun with language arts.

Why Make Language Arts Fun?

Let’s face it—if Language Arts feels like a chore, kids are going to treat it like one. But when we make reading, writing, and word play fun, we unlock a whole new world of learning. Kids become more willing to try, less afraid of mistakes, and way more engaged. Fun activities boost confidence, especially in struggling learners, and help turn those “I can’t” moments into “Look what I did!” ones. When kids laugh while learning, they retain more, connect deeper, and actually want to come back for more—and that’s a homeschool win in any book.

What to Expect in 10 days of Fun Language Arts activities

Over the next 10 days, you’ll find themed Language Arts activities that are fun, interactive, and totally doable—even on your busiest homeschool days. Each post will feature a simple, hands-on idea that targets one or more core language skills: reading, writing, grammar, phonics, and vocabulary. These activities are designed with K–4th graders in mind, but you’ll find them flexible enough to adapt up or down depending on your child’s needs. Best of all? They’re low-prep and high-impact—meaning you can spend less time planning and more time learning (and laughing) alongside your kids. Whether you need a full lesson idea or a 15-minute brain break that still counts as school, this series has you covered.
