A Brief History of St. Patrick’s Day:

St. Patrick’s Day, celebrated annually on March 17th, is a cultural and religious holiday that honors Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. Born in Roman Britain in the late 4th century, Saint Patrick was kidnapped and enslaved by Irish raiders at the age of 16. After escaping captivity, he returned to Ireland as a Christian missionary, where he played a vital role in converting the Irish people to Christianity.

While the holiday is widely associated with Ireland, it is celebrated globally by people of Irish descent and those who simply enjoy the festive atmosphere. The color green, shamrocks, and leprechauns are all popular symbols of St. Patrick’s Day, and parades, festivals, and traditional Irish music and dance are common ways to celebrate.
