Ocean Themed Math Fact Game
Summer break is in full swing, and while the days are filled with sunshine and sandy toes, it’s important to keep young minds engaged and those multiplication skills from getting rusty. I’m sharing a fun way to combine the excitement of the ocean with the practice of multiplication facts, all centered around a pre-made ocean-themed math fact game board!

What You’ll Need to play the Ocean Explorers Math Fact Game :
- Game board
- Dice: One or two, depending on how you want to play.
- Multiplication word problem game cards
- Scrap paper for working out the problem (optional)
- Small game pieces or tokens: Seashells, mini fish figurines, or even pirate doubloons!
- Timer (optional)
Prep Your Math Fact Cards:
There are a variety of multiplication word problems that will need to be cut out and laid near the game board. The word problems will be similar to the ones below.

- An octopus has 8 arms. If there are 3 octopuses, how many arms are there in total?
- A starfish has 5 points. If you find 7 starfish, how many points will you count?
- Each sea turtle lays 120 eggs. If 4 sea turtles lay eggs, how many eggs will there be?
- A school of fish has 10 fish in each row. If there are 6 rows, how many fish are in the school?
Get Ready to Play the Ocean Explorer Game:
- Place your game board on a table and gather your dice, game pieces, and math fact cards.
- Players take turns rolling the dice and moving their game pieces.
- If a player lands on an ocean creature space, they draw a math fact card and solve the problem. If correct, they stay on their space. If incorrect, they move back one space.
- If a player lands on a “shark attack” space, they move back two spaces!
- The first player to reach the finish line wins.
