Rainbow Racers a Color Game for Preschoolers
If you have ever driven down the road and called out the color of the cars you see with your preschooler, than this game is going to be right up your kiddos alley. Rainbow racers is a color game for preschoolers that will get your little one up and moving and practicing their colors while racing to the finish line.
Materials:
- Printable car game sheets
- Scissors
- Tape
- Optional: Small toy cars
How to Play Rainbow Racers A Color Game:
- Prep the Track: Print and cut out the cars and the color die from your game sheet. Assemble the die by folding along the lines and securing it with tape.
- Roll and Race: Each player takes a turn rolling the color die. They say the color of the car they rolled out loud and then move the matching colored car towards the finish line.
- Let the Competition Begin! If you have multiple little racers, see who can get all their cars to the finish line first!
Variations to the Rainbow Racing Game:
- Use colored matchbox cars! -play this game by having a set of cars the same color as the ones on the die. Students will try and push their cars to the finish line instead of placing them there.
- Size Matters: Make a giant-sized version of the game for outdoor play! Draw the cars and finish line with sidewalk chalk. Kids can be their own “cars” by hopping or walking from color to color.
Why Color Games make learning easier
- Skill Building: Besides learning their colors, this game fosters turn-taking, patience, and a little healthy competition if you play with multiple kids.
- Adaptable: You can easily change out the cars for other themes – animals, shapes, or letters once your little learners have colors down pat.
- Pure Fun: Kids love the thrill of a race, and this simple activity will have them engaged and learning without even realizing it.
Extra Tip: Laminate the car pieces and die for extra durability, especially in a classroom setting.
